מילות קישור (Linking Words / Connectors) הן אחד הנושאים החשובים ביותר בחלק השלמת המשפטים. הן מגדירות את הקשר הלוגי בין חלקי המשפט — ניגוד, סיבה, הוספה, תנאי ועוד. ברגע שמזהים את הקטגוריה, ניתן לפסול שלוש תשובות ולמצוא את הנכונה מהר.

המילים הנפוצות ביותר הן: however, therefore, although, despite, furthermore, consequently, whereas, unless. יש ללמוד את הקטגוריה שלהן (ניגוד, סיבה, הוספה, תנאי) ולא רק את המשמעות הבודדת.
although מלווה משפט שלם (although it rained), ואילו despite מלווה שם עצם או ביטוי שמי (despite the rain). שתיהן מציינות ניגוד.
however מופיע בתחילת משפט חדש ומציין ניגוד למה שנאמר לפניו. although מופיע בתוך אותו משפט.
שניהם מציינים תוצאה. therefore רשמי יותר ומציין מסקנה הגיונית. consequently מדגיש שהתוצאה הכרחית ישירות מהסיבה.
